The Two Rails of a Career
The San Diego OneClub invited me to talk at the new Mingei Museum to launch their speaker series on design. “Anything you want to talk about”, said director David Traina. In a sobering pandemic and knowing none are longing to see another design portfolio, we spent the evening talking of what it takes to maintain motivation and inspiration throughout a life. The “Riding the Rails of a Design Career” premise led to a rich conversation and a few examples of the importance of play and of creating for yourself. A reunion for many, surrounded by colleagues and sharing rather than impressing.
