San Diego and Tijuana have jointly been named as World Design Capital for 2024.

The title of World Design Capital is awarded every two years, by the World Design Organization (WDO) and aims to recognize cities for their effective use of design in driving economic, social, cultural and environmental prosperity. A year long program of activity is organized to leverage this.

News of the appointment marks the first time a binational capital has been designated. The AIGA/SD chapter is planning a significant exhibition featuring the innovations and inventions of the region. Stay tuned as the World Design Capital 2024 takes shape.
