Italy-Off The Walls

Taking rubbings off the walls of Italy became a way of sketching without knowing what would happen. A winter trip to Italy had me filling journals with type rubbings… then drawing back into them. A technique that insisted you work fast and use whatever the walls give up, not something you get to predict. It gave me a feeling of unlocking centuries old images, celebrating them all over again.
